blogRedBull Wake Art Project 2013

Last year, I did it solo. This year, I tag-teamed with Tony Krol.

Collaborating has always been difficult for me, but this process was interesting and surprisingly fun. The theme for the event was the same as last year’s, “What Gives You Wings”. What we chose: Love and Bumpin’ Beats. Here’s the explanation:
Love may be the single greatest emotion a person can feel. When it is pure and true, it is unshakable. It is positive and uplifting, whether given or received. Love is a powerful motivating force, one which formed our collaborative team. Our love for art, our city and each other has been a driving force behind our work. Another common love we share…our love of bumping’ beats. Hip hop has a special place in both of our hearts and is often the go-to art-making soundtrack. No matter what creative roadblock is hit or what type of negative vibe has come along, bumping’ beats are the cure all. It is equivalent to that tattered blanket or stuffed animal children never let go of. That thing they love and whenever they look back at it, it stills warms the heart and brings a smile.
